The Nursing Shortage
Partners Investing in Nursing’s Future – Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Northwest Health Foundation
THF was one of nine organizations selected across the country by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Northwest Health Foundation for the national Partners Investing in Nursing’s Future Grant. The project matches $250,000 committed by THF to establish a half-million dollar program to support the creation of an education and training program at area safety-net healthcare and emergency response sites.
In addition to allowing the project’s leadership team to network with peer projects nationally, the partnership led to THF’s CEO being invited and participating in a foundation dinner at the Institute of Medicine. The dinner was designed to create a dialogue with foundations about the IOM Nursing Report.
In addition, THF was one of five selected for the Northwest Health Foundation’s Sustainability grant.
Overall the PIN collaboration emphasized the local need to support nurse leadership and led to THF’s efforts in connecting with state and national efforts to implement IOM recommendations.
THF participated in the early planning of Oklahoma’s efforts to implement IOM recommendations and participated in a one-day continued education workshop for Texas.
